Experience hotel life with Marriott International
My First Job has partnered with Marriott International hotels to offer high school students work experience opportunities during Term 4, 2026.
This opportunity is exclusively available through My First Job, with participating hotels across Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Instead of approaching hotels directly, students apply once through the My First Job platform. We’ll learn more about your interests, availability and what you’d like to experience, then help match suitable students with participating Marriott hotels and departments.
Why apply?
There’s a lot more to working in a hotel than you might think.
Depending on the hotel, you could explore areas including Front Office, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Events, Concierge, Marketing, HR, Sales, Finance and Engineering.
This is your chance to:
- Experience what working in a hotel is actually like
- Explore different roles and future career pathways
- Build confidence and practical workplace skills
- Get involved in real activities and projects where possible
- Meet people working across different areas of a hotel
- Learn about potential future jobs, apprenticeships and other pathways
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to do before you apply.

How it works
1. Apply through My First Job
Apply for the Marriott International Work Experience Opportunity in your region through the My First Job platform.
2. Tell us more about you
Suitable applicants will be asked for some more information about their interests, availability, preferred departments and what they’d like to experience. We may also arrange a quick chat to get to know you better.
3. We look for a match
My First Job will consider your interests, location and availability alongside the opportunities available at participating hotels.
4. Your placement is confirmed
If we identify a suitable match and the hotel can accommodate the placement, we’ll work with your school and the hotel to coordinate the required work experience paperwork.
5. Meet your hotel
Before your placement, we’ll arrange a short meet and greet at the hotel. You’ll meet the team, learn where to go, what to wear and what to expect, so you feel more prepared for your first day.
6. Experience hotel life
Complete your work experience and get a behind-the-scenes look at what working in a Marriott International hotel could be like.
What makes this different?
You apply once. My First Job helps with the rest.
Instead of students, families or schools having to approach individual hotels, My First Job works directly with participating Marriott International hotels.
We help find potential matches based on each student’s interests, availability and location, coordinate the placement with the hotel and school, and help students prepare before their first day.
Your work experience could be the first step towards a future opportunity you didn’t know existed.
